OAD Cafe
Craving a delicious panini? Look no further than OAD Cafe, with its Hawaiian theme and a variety of options to choose from. During our visit, we had the pleasure of trying the bulgogi and hot chicken paninis, accompanied by refreshing iced Americanos that were served with the most adorable, bite-sized oatmeal cookie. The panini bread was perfectly balanced, with a soft and fluffy interior and a delightful, crispy exterior. To our surprise, one of the best sandwich lunch in daegu also came with a side of fresh and flavorful corn slaw.
However, it’s important to note that if you’re in a hurry, this might not be the best spot as the sandwiches take a little while to be prepared. Despite that, we managed to enjoy our meal and make it back to work within an hour. It’s worth mentioning that the cozy cafe, with only four tables, was virtually empty during our visit at noon, allowing us to have a quiet and pleasant dining experience.

Pain Pan Pao
Pain Pan Pao, also known as Pang Pang Pang in Hangul, is a vibrant brunch and dessert cafe located in downtown Daegu. Upon entering, you’ll be immediately drawn to the beautiful display table and the captivating alphabet sculpture. The cafe offers various seating options, including intimate tables, an amphitheater-style arrangement, and even swing chairs on the balcony. Inside, you’ll find a spacious communal table with convenient condensers and outlets for those who need to work on their laptops. The bakery is visible, adding to the charm of the place. Additionally, there is a separate boardroom table room that can be reserved, featuring a stunning red chandelier and a central throne.
The menu at Pain Pan Pao is diverse, with an array of breads, cookies, cakes, and enticing brunch options such as pastas, salads, and great sandwich lunch in daegu. Don’t forget to explore the gift area, where you can find imported sausages, cheese, cereal, wine, and more. The cafe provides 1 hour of validated parking in the basement, but it can be tight and expensive, so it’s advisable to park in the open lot down the street. Located near the Banwoldang station, it’s easily accessible by the red and green subway lines. The atmosphere of Pain Pan Pao is chill yet upbeat, evoking a whimsical ambiance akin to Alice in Wonderland meeting the Nutcracker. Whether you choose to sit inside or enjoy the outdoor seating, including swing chairs and tents, the cafe offers a delightful and unique dining experience.

Kai’s Sandwich Shop
We finally made it to Kai’s Sandwich Shop after a year of waiting, and it was well worth the anticipation. This small brunch cafe in Daegu surprised me with its delightful offerings. Located in an area filled with charming cafes, it’s just a short drive from Camp Henry and Camp Walker. With about 10 tables and convenient paid parking, Kai’s Sandwich Shop welcomes you with two large picture windows that fill the space with natural light.
The walls are adorned with wine bottles, creating a cozy atmosphere. We ordered the Reuben, chicken avocado sandwich, and a delicious seasonal cream soup with asparagus and potato. They are two great sandwich lunch options in daegu. Every bite was a treat, but the Reuben sandwich stood out, perfectly toasted and generously sized for sharing. At 16,000 ₩, it was pricier than other options, but worth every won. The double-stacked sandwiches are enough to satisfy two people. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their brunch menu, along with another green tangerine ade. Kai’s Sandwich Shop has definitely impressed me with their exceptional sandwiches in Daegu.

Roasting Farts
Roasting Farts is hands down one of my go-to cafes for lunch. Their crobung cheeseburger is simply divine. The secret behind its deliciousness lies in the crobung bread, a combination of croffle and bungeoppang that results in a heavenly, light, and crispy texture. I must admit, I’m a bit reluctant to spill the beans about this place, as I always manage to snag my favorite seat by the window on sunny days while enjoying their soothing playlist.
Don’t miss out on their delightful marmalade ades – they’re sweet, tangy, and incredibly refreshing. If you’re in a hurry, it’s a good idea to call ahead because the preparation might take a little time. Prepare to be surprised when you step into the Daebongjeong Cafe. As you approach the stone entrance and swing open the door, the sight before you will surely amaze. This cafe beautifully blends traditional hanok-style architecture with a modern touch. The open wood trestles reminiscent of a traditional hanok perfectly harmonize with the contemporary design, showcased by the expansive picture windows. The cafe is nestled within a charming courtyard adorned with tumbled stones, while on one side, an elevated garden offers captivating views of Daebong. To add to its allure, there’s a delightful little bookstore and art gallery nearby. At Daebongjeong, you can indulge in a delectable selection of desserts, specialty coffees, sandwiches, and a tempting brunch set. The cafe’s pleasant ambiance and the welcoming sound of good music attract a vibrant crowd of young adults during lunch.

The Nose Cafe
The Nose Cafe is one of the most convenient lunch cafes. It is located just a 5-minute drive from the front gate of Camp Henry and only 10 minutes from Camp Walker. You can find it at the intersection right below the Geondeulbawi (건들바위) metro stop. The chicken pesto sandwich at Nose Cafe is really good. I asked them to hold the sweet chili sauce. It made the sandwich messy and diluted the the chicken, pesto, and sourdough bread because they speak volumes without the extra sauce. There is dedicated, but limited, parking in the alley behind the lunch cafe. The storefront cafe has a very modest, minimalistic look, with entrances in the front and back. And doubles as a great place to people watch in Daebong.
