Millton Cafe in Cheongdo

The Large Glass Door and Non-Descript Music

The first thing you notice walking up to Millton Cafe, besides the expansive view and patio, is the large glass door at the main entrance. The massive door looked heavy but as I pushed on the metal handle, it glided effortlessly on one pivot point. It was a cool feature that added to the modern and sleek design of the cafe before we stepped one foot inside.

Once we were inside we, were pleasantly surprised by the playlist as we pondered over the menu. Millton Cafe plays non-descript (pleasant, but I couldn’t recognize anything) R&B and light jazz, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Millton Cafe– My Particular Aesthetic

I stumbled upon the Millton Cafe on one of my daily Naver Cafe Cheongdo searches (in Hangul), and I must say, it was a wonderful discovery. In this blog post, I will share my experience visiting the Millton cafe.

If you follow my Facebook oage, you’ll notice I have a prefered aesthetic and evaluate cafes according to the following criteria:

  1. Cafes with a view– preferably ocean or mountain,
  2. I prefer large, open, or themed cafes with tons of natural light,
  3. Comfortable seating and stylish decor
  4. Cozy independently owned gallery-style cafes
  5. Cafes that also serve brunch,
  6. Cafes with large, dedicated parking or paid parking nearby

And although, I have gone to Ediya, Myungga, Hands, and DO NOT DISTURB Coffee Shops if they meet the above criteria, I tend to avoid chain establishments like Starbucks, because I don’t want to spend that kind of money on a so-so coffee. Other things, I don’t like are:

  1. study cafes, for obvious reasons,
  2. bingsu coffee shops
  3. hotel coffee shops
  4. automatic/ vendor coffee
  5. Dunkin Donuts (and other fast food chains that sell coffee).

The Gray Concrete Interior and X-Shaped Chandelier

As soon as I entered the cafe, I was struck by its modern and minimalist design. The gray concrete interior gave the space a chic and industrial feel, while the x-shaped chandelier added a touch of elegance. The use of natural materials, like wood and metal, created a warm and welcoming ambiance, making me feel right at home.

The Expansive Terrace Overlooking the River’s Low Tide and Green Space

The View from Milton Cafe in Cheongdo

One of the unique features of the Millton Cafe is its expansive terrace that overlooks the Cheongdo river’s low tide and green space. The view from the terrace was simply stunning, and it was the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while soaking up the natural beauty around me. The terrace also had plenty of seating options, including comfortable couches and chairs, making it an ideal spot to relax and unwind.

The Terrarium and Paschinko–Specialty Drink

Another highlight of the Millton Cafe was the terrarium visible from the first floor, filled with several trees and greenery. The lovely touch added to the cafe’s natural and eco-friendly vibe. As for the drinks, I highly recommend trying their specialty drink, the Paschinko, made with pineapple and cubed coconut. It was a refreshing fruit juice named the New York Times Bestseller.

If you didn’t know, “Pachinko” by Min Jin Lee was a New York Times bestseller that chronicles the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four generations as they leave their homeland in an quest to make a better life abroad.

In Conclusion

This Cheongdo cafe is conveniently located less than an hour from Daegu. So, whether it’s a beautiful sunny day or a cozy rainy one like today, it’s the perfect distance for a refreshing drive or a vusit to nearby Unmunsa Temple, this amazing cafe never fails to amaze its visitors with its cozy ambiance, comfy seating, and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you want to relax with a good book or catch up with your friends, Millton Cafe is the perfect spot to unwind and have a great time.
